So many things I’ve not written

Little Edwin is 21 months old. Some of his interests are playing with the chalkboard I painted and sawed and built for him. He is very artistically inclined! He loves putting the keys in different locks and can even put the key in the ignition and turn it on. He loves radios, pressing their buttons to see what they do and turning up the volume loudly, in which case I have to come turn it down. His favorite letter is ‘W,’ and he’s even drawn it! He doesn’t say too much yet, only pronouncing the first of most words. He just now pointed to a W and said ‘wuh,’ without being prompted. He tries to climb into his crib but can’t. He’s not been sleeping well and got very excited when my dad came up for thanksgiving. He wouldn’t sleep and wanted to come play in the living room. Right now he caught a cold from a friend’s son and had a very hard time yesterday with his sleep. He napped for ten minutes and was so tired at night but his nose was too stopped up to nurse. That wasn’t easy.

Edwin loves rocket ships and his favorite book is Rocket Science for Babies. He used his training toilet on the first go and even pooped in it! He understands almost every single thing we say to him. He loves running in the forest, has little interest in the television, loves his pacifier, which I used to call his plug, which he would try to say but eventually gave up and called it ‘baba.’ He doesn’t cuddle much. This sometimes makes me sad. He has a lot of energy and loves to move and explore.

He has been making this cute ‘mmmme! Mmmmuh’ sound with the tone going very high in the first syllable and then going from high to low in the second. He often says ‘Ma,’ for mama if he wants something, signs please and thank you, shares with friends. He’s much nicer than all his friends, and I’d like to find friends for him that are more gentle. I don’t want him to think it’s okay to be pushed around. I also want friends who are more considerate if their children are sick. This is not the first time he’s gotten sick from ‘friends.’

We went cycling in the bike trailer for the first time the other day. He liked it, but his helmet is too heavy and pinches under his chin even when I’m careful putting it on. He goes running into the street still, loves the mail box, and can open the gate, so I had to tie rope around it.
